There are a lot of products out there that we really like and think that they make life easier or better. Here are some of the things I wouldn't want to live without and why.
Personal Care
Tooth soap- We LOVE LOVE LOVE Tooth Soap. I like the ginger flavor best, and the kids love the grape flavor. Take a look at our Forum listing of good deals to see what sale they currently have running.
Coconut Oil- Coconut oil makes the best lotion and massage oil. I buy the Expeller Pressed coconut oil that isn't raw by the five-gallon bucket, and use it for cooking and lotion. One bucket lasts our family of four about 14-16 months.
Mountain Rose Herbs has a wonderful array of herbs and ingredients to make your own personal care items and herbal teas. I loved drinking a mix of red raspberry leaf, peppermint and nettles while pregnant.
J Lynne Cosmetics offers wonderful mineral make-ups at incredibly reasonable prices. When I went gluten free, I swapped out all my make-up as many commercial products contain gluten, especially lipstick. So I ordered a bunch of their samples, and they lasted me for months. Their samples range from $1-2.50 each. You can try a bunch of different colors that way, and not be out a lot of money. Mineral make-up is literally a mixture of ground minerals with no fillers or additives. Enter referral code "RKF37481" at check-out and get 10% off.
Household Items
I'm spending a lot of time on the computer right now, and sitting in a regular computer chair is murder on your back. I got a BalanceBall Chair
when I was pregnant with Trey to help my back pain, and this chair is once again my best friend.
I really love my Rival Roaster. It's an 18-quart oven or crock-pot. You can use it as a second oven or a huge crock-pot. It’s very handy at Thanksgiving and Christmas and for batch cooking for OAMC. I use mine to make chicken stock- it will easily hold three chickens at one time. This is an incredible sale, with free shipping and free gifts.
My kids like smoothies, but they LOVE snowcones. A friend a while back showed me that she makes a smoothie and freezes it into ice cubes, then puts it through her NOVELTY ICE SHAVER
and feeds it to her family for dessert. My kids now ask for their snowcone daily, and it's another way of getting really good nutrition into them, especially if you do a smoothie with greens and use berries to hide the green color.
The Panasonic Personal Ice Cream Maker is wonderful. It's compact and can make one, two or three cups of ice cream at one time. You just pour in the chilled ice cream mix, pop the top on, turn it on and set it into your freezer. In two hours you've got ice cream! It's battery powered with a long-life battery. Clean-up is quick and easy.
OXO Good Grips is by far my favorite line of kitchen equipment. They're so much more ergonomic and sturdy than other brands. I've been pleased with every item I've tried.
Exercise
T-tapp is the exercise program I love. It doesn't require any special equipment, and it only takes fifteen minutes every other day. On average, users loose 1 dress size a month. Their skin brushing program was what I relied on to tighten my skin as I dropped 60 pounds. I can't say enough good about T-tapp.
Homeschooling
I have difficulty with my hearing, and have for a while. Before my hearing started getting worse, we used baby sign language with our children to teach them to tell us what they want before they could talk. It was always nice for a crying baby to be able to tell you exactly what they wanted, which eliminated a lot of frustration for us and them both. Since my hearing has started to get worse, we have picked back up with sign language and use the Signing Time videos and books to teach myself and our children sign language signs until I have the time to take an ASL course at the local Junior College. These videos are entertaining with a lot of reinforcement of sign usage. Signing Time recently ran a series of shortened videos on PBS. Contact your local station to find out if they'll be showing it in your area.
Handwriting Without Tears is a wonderful program to teach children handwriting. This program has quickly moved Belle along with being able to write legibly.
We enjoy using the Fun Craft of the Month Club to have a weekly craft for my preschooler. This program sends you one age-appropriate craft per week for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. Everything is cut out and ready to go. It's wonderful for instant entertainment for a bored child or to keep them occupied when you need to work on something along side them.
